is the largest country in the South Asian subcontinent. Like China, India is
also one of the four ancient civilizations. The ancient Indians created a
splendid ancient civilization with splendid diversity and rich cultural
heritage and tourism resources. There are many places of interest in India,
which can be roughly divided into three parts: ancient castles and cemeteries, Buddhist holy sites, and cave temples. This article
introduces 2 famous ancient castles and cemeteries
Symbol of India Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is located on the east side
of the city of Agra. It was built in 1654 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in
memory of his late wife, Mumtaz Mahal. People hailed it as the pride of India
and called it one of the seven wonders of the world. Tagore said the Taj Mahal
was "a tear on the cheek of eternity". Today this marvelous building
has become a symbol of India.
The Taj Mahal is typically Mughal style,
and the entire complex includes the vestibule, the main entrance, the Mughal
garden, the main body of the mausoleum, and two mosques. The mosque is built of
red sandstone with a typical white dome on top. The main purpose of building
these two mosques is to maintain the balance of the entire Taj Mahal building
to achieve symmetry.
The Mughal Palace Agra Fort
Agra Fort is located on a small hill on the
Yamuna River on the east side of Agra City, about 3 kilometers away from the
Taj Mahal. It was built in 1573 AD. Because it was built with red sandstone, it
is also called the Red Fort. It is the seat of the Mughal imperial city, and it
belongs to a different building from the Red Fort in Delhi. Agra Fort is a
world cultural heritage and a famous tourist destination in India.
Agra Fort has the dual functions of a
palace and a castle. Its appearance is majestic and its interior is
magnificent. It is a typical Islamic architectural style. Although most of the
buildings are in disrepair, the stone carvings and mosaics on the walls are
still exquisite. It is a representative work of the peak period of Indian Islamic
art. There were more than 500 buildings in the ancient castle, but very few of
them have been preserved.
